Antenatal Classes

Three classes. Everything you and your partner need to feel ready.

Our antenatal class package is a structured three-class series, Pregnancy, Birth and Baby, led by the same experienced midwives who deliver our maternity care. Practical, evidence-based and honest, with plenty of room for your questions. Partners are welcome. We want them there.

Antenatal Classes

Who it's for

  • Expecting parents from around 24 weeks of pregnancy
  • First-time parents who want to know what actually happens, and parents who'd like a refresher
  • You do not need to be a NOH maternity patient to attend

The three classes

  1. Pregnancy, your changing body, warning signs worth acting on, staying well in the third trimester, and preparing for labour.
  2. Birth, the stages of labour, pain-relief options, when to come to hospital, what your birth team does, and what happens if plans change (including caesarean birth).
  3. Baby, feeding (with real breastfeeding support), sleeping, bathing, what's normal and what's not, and surviving the first weeks at home.

How it works

  • Classes run at Busamed Modderfontein Private Hospital, east of Johannesburg, the same hospital where our mothers deliver, so you'll know the environment before the big day
  • Best attended between weeks 24 and 34
  • Book once, and we confirm your dates for all three sessions
