About
A clinician-led maternity model, built on real data.
Network One Health is a health services integrator. We organise care around a defined maternity episode delivered by a governed team, not a solo doctor.
Where the model comes from
Proven before it was replicated.
The maternity pathway has run at our Johannesburg site since 2022. We built the clinical model first, measured it, and only then separated it from the ownership model so it could be deployed elsewhere. That separation is what we call NOMA.
We hold ourselves to an accountable clinical entity and an accountable operating entity, with published decision rights and escalation paths.
How care is governed
The same spine at every site.
Every Network One site runs the same governance spine, no exceptions. Clinical policy is held by the NOH Governance Council (NGC) — the accountable clinical authority across the network. A Joint Audit & Quality Committee audits clinical and operational quality across all sites every month, and each site runs its own weekly operational review. Risk is stratified explicitly for every patient and drives the intensity of her care. Outcomes are measured against a single shared data dictionary, on a fixed reporting cadence, and when something goes wrong it goes through structured mortality-and-morbidity review and root-cause analysis — not quiet forgetting.
The result is care that behaves the same way wherever you meet it: the protocols are non-negotiable, even where the clinical teams delivering them are local.
The multidisciplinary team
A team, not a hero.
Care at Network One is delivered by a multidisciplinary team (MDT): midwives, medical officers, obstetricians, anaesthetists, sonographers, counsellors, care coordinators and administrative staff — working to one record and one plan. It is midwife-led and medically governed: each professional works at the top of their scope, the specialist's time goes where it changes outcomes, and an MDT review is built into every pregnancy episode. No patient's safety depends on one doctor being everywhere.
The MDT is also the building block of value-based care. One agreed fee for a defined episode is only possible when outcomes are predictable, pathways are standardised, and costs are auditable — and those are exactly what a governed team produces. The team model is what turns "no surprises" from a slogan into something we can put in a contract: for the patient, one price; for funders and hospital partners, outcomes per rand they can verify.
